ppearance is a photo work based on a decaying photograph on display in the Astronomisch-Physikalischen Kabinett of museum Oranienschloss in Kassel. Originally showing a traditional portrait of a Victorian-era couple, the image has faded into an
abstract representation of time, light and chemical processes. Each time the work is on show, the image is rephotographed in its frame. Placed in a new frame, the history of the image becomes part of the image.
The first Appearance was shown at Denn alles was den Gesetzen des Verstandes und der Vernunft widerstreitet, ist freilich unmöglich, Meinblau, Berlin in 2014
